With the Switch 2's launch looming, Nintendo is gearing up for battle against scalpers. Last time, they were left powerless as resellers hoarded consoles and left fans angry. This time, they’re taking steps to ensure that the console is available for those who want it.

Steps to Combat Scalping

In an interview, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa revealed that the company is ramping up production to meet the anticipated demand for the Switch 2. By increasing availability, Nintendo hopes to make a dent in the scalper market.

But they're not stopping there. The company is also putting consumer protection measures in place. Some of the proposed ideas include lottery systems, online queues, and working closely with retailers to enforce purchase limits.

Will It Work?

It’s hard to say. Scalpers are crafty and will always find a way to manipulate the system. But if Nintendo is able to make enough units, it may just give them a fighting chance.

No one wants to pay $1,000 for a console.
